Wednsday’s ‘Lunch’ Ride:
- ~ 30 miles
- ~15.8 MPH
- Broke 2000 miles YTD
Well – maybe not speed, but its getting to the point where I OWN the heat. Actually – I have a ways to go on the acclamation front – seems it got outrageously hot really quick. Things were going fine and then boom. The only way I can get a 60 mile ride in is to start EARLY. Last Saturday I got a late start and paid the price – the last half hour was brutal.
Last Week’s Saturday ride:
- Time 3:45
- Dist 60.22
- Average Speed 16.0
- Max Speed 34.2
- Cal 2010.5
- ODO YTD -:1974.9

Here is Euterpe with some improvements & (hopefully) ready for the finishing touches. Changed the chair a little and moved up the lute to really hit you over the head with the eternal artistic ‘musical instrument as female shape’ pun. Im also going to make the figure in the back (BELOW: currently showing William-Adolphe Bouguereau’s L’aurore sketch*) be Euterpe – complete with her signature double flute.
Add in some rugs below, wall texture, a pattern on the wall hanging and tidy things up == done. So Im actually looking at rubbers again. Uh – I mean – uh no that joke never gets old.
* Back in the day those MFs did drawing after drawing THIS FUCKING GOOD before they even painted. WOW&WTF

Well – maybe not just yet – but here is another look at Salvo LOB- with a lot of updates that were a lot of work – but with only limited direct visibility in this demo.
http://www.housecarl.com/mebottle/salvo_lob/interface_controls_trial.html
The demo is based on the net proofer – and you can still use it to connect – but there is no connection between users and ships – so it is not really playable. (I just ran out of time) What you CAN do is move round a little and select ships. (Uh – yea – that causes a problem – but it’ll be fixed soon.) So – you CAN:

OK – Im not so hot on that name – it just does not ‘roll off of the tong’ as it were. But what to call it? Right. Good Idea. Im totally with you. Lets finish the little fucker first, and the right name will be come clear.
In other news – I finally purchased Photoshop CS5 for my MAC – oh happy day. Its good to have PS on my primary computer again – so there is no booting up parallels or going to another system to work with photos. Whops – - Oh – there you go – Flash crashed my Mac again…
OK – here are the E shots for today – some improvement on the chair and stuff . Progress is good.

Wow – its 7:44 am and I already have a significant accomplishment up and running. Granted – it will probably be 8am before I am done with this gloating, AND I may have been working on the setup till midnight – but still: Im in the DMZ.
What that means (in this context) is that I have setup a computer on my home network that is a web and file server. Furthermore – I have connected to this computer for desktop sharing and I have started a game server and even connected to the game server from another computer on another network. Yea baby.
To do this I had to ferret through a LOT of webpages and try a LOT of stuff that did not work – so Im thinking of putting together a mini tutorial. The basic steps include:
a) Manage your IP Address
Setup a DNS referencing service for your host COMPUTER. I used ‘no-ip’ and it works great – but there are others.
Load and run the DNS app/exe from your DNS referencing service
b) Install Webserver (optional?)
Setup a web server on your computer (Enable OS feature or run Abyss or Apache ect)
Setup your home page on the computer & fileserver directory as fits your needs.
e) DMZ Connection
Configure your computer to have a static IP address within your router network
Configure your router to forward Incoming web traffic to the above IP address
f) Desktop Sharing
Enable or install some sort of desktop sharing – I use: LogMeIn (because the man didn’t…….)
g) Use Cmputer
